Dr. Rob Margry (Manager Food Safety and Quality Systems, CCL Nutricontrol) was an invited speaker at the annual EFPRA meeting held in Aalborg, Denmark, 4-7 June 2008. During his presentation he highlighted the current status of the analytical methods to determine the presence of protein material from several animal species origin. Currently, in the EU there is a ban on the use of ruminant PAP in compound feed according to Regulation (EC) No 1744/2002. The PCR test for detection of cattle tissue which was developed by the Community Reference Laboratory in Gembloux, Belgium is now running at CCL Nutricontrol.
