MELISA-TEK Ruminant shows very promising results!
Publicatiedatum: 09-11-2009
MELISA-TEKTM Ruminant shows very promising results in discriminating between processed animal proteins (PAP) from ruminant and non ruminant origin.
Dr. Rob Margry (Manager Food Safety and Quality Systems, CCL Nutricontrol) and coworkers presented the poster on the performance of MELISA-TEKTM Ruminant, an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of ruminant processed animal protein (PAP) at the 3rd International Feed Safety Conference held in Wageningen, The Netherlands, 6-7 October 2009.
Several non ruminant samples, with or without added ruminant PAP's (processed at different temperatures) were analysed using MELISA-TEKTM Ruminant kit in combinations with the MELISA-TEK high sensitvity sample extraction kit. The results showed an overall specificity of 99%, indicating no cross reaction with non ruminant PAP's. Also the sensitivity of the kit is very high, being 96% and 100% at the level of 0.5 to 2% of ruminant PAP's in non ruminant PAP's respectively.
More information on the use of MELISA-TEKTM Ruminant for the analysis of ruminant PAP's can be found in the attached poster. In case you would like to receive additional information or would like to have your samples analysed please contact Rob Margry PhD (e-mail: rob.margry@ccl.nl)
